Why Your Content Isn’t Converting (And How to Fix It in 4 Steps)

You’re showing up.
You’re posting content.
You’re telling stories.
But you’re not getting results.

Before you blame the algorithm, consider this:

There’s nothing wrong with telling stories—
but there might be something wrong with how you’re telling them.

At Redd Legend, we troubleshoot storytelling problems every day for businesses that want their content to actually work—not just exist.

Here’s our 4-step diagnostic process to fix content that isn’t converting.

1. Content – Are You Saying the Right Thing?

Let’s start with the basics:
What are you actually saying?

Are you telling a story that your audience cares about? Or are you just sharing something that you think is interesting?

Good content starts with the right story—told completely.
If you’re getting ignored, this is the first place to look.

Ask:

  • Is this story relevant to the problems my audience is facing?
  • Is there a transformation (Think → Feel → Do)?
  • Did I make the value obvious?

2. Framing – Are You Saying It at the Right Time?

You could have the right message and still get zero traction if it’s not framed well.

Framing is about relevance and timing. It answers:

  • Am I meeting my audience where they are?
  • Am I saying this in a way that fits the platform, moment, or mindset they’re in?

Think of this as when and where your message appears.
A great story, poorly timed, is an invisible story.

3. Frequency – Are You Saying It Enough?

Most businesses under-communicate.

You might think you’ve “already said that”—but the truth is, your audience probably didn’t see it. Or didn’t understand it. Or needed to hear it again in a new way.

If you’re not showing up consistently, you’re not staying top of mind.

Ask:

  • Am I posting enough to break through?
  • Am I reinforcing the core message in multiple formats?
  • Is my best content getting buried too fast?

Consistency builds trust. Repetition drives clarity.

4. Structure – Are You Saying It in the Right Order?

Even with the right message, relevance, and frequency—your story can still fall flat if the structure is wrong.

Here’s the simple structure we recommend:

  1. Grab attention
  2. Make the idea relatable
  3. Show the impact
  4. Give a clear next step

If you miss any of those, your audience is left confused or uninspired.

The Fix Is Simple—But Most People Skip It

Most content struggles because something is missing in one of these four areas:

  • Content
  • Framing
  • Frequency
  • Structure

We use this diagnostic in every client project at Redd Legend—whether it’s a full brand video, a testimonial, or a punchy 30-second ad.
